Global by Nature, Community by Heart: Why HIP is Reimagining Philanthropy Across Borders

Leer en Español

At HIP, we’ve always known that generosity is borderless.

It moves through people, stories, and shared purpose — connecting communities from Mexico City to the Caribbean to all over the world. It’s what drives us to show up globally while staying grounded in our local truths.

As we close out the year, HIP’s leaders have been representing our communities at global gatherings — from renewing commitments to migration and cross-border giving in the Americas, to centering justice and equity in the Caribbean, to amplifying women’s leadership and voice across the Atlantic. Each space reminds our leaders of something essential: when Latine voices are in the room, the conversation shifts.

Because holding philanthropy accountable isn’t just about redistributing wealth — it’s about redistributing who gets heard, who gets funded, and who gets to lead.

Why Global Matters

The challenges we face — from climate displacement to inequitable economies — are interconnected. So are the solutions. HIP’s global presence reflects a belief that philanthropy must evolve alongside the communities it serves.

We bring a unique offering to this evolution:

  • Transforming Philanthropy & Amplifying Giving: We bridge grassroots wisdom with institutional power. Through education, community-building, and donor organizing, we shift philanthropy toward justice — and align generosity with values and impact.
  • Investing in Community-Driven Solutions: We co-create with communities, supporting infrastructure, leadership, and capacity so people can thrive on their own terms.

Together, these commitments form the backbone of a more inclusive and effective philanthropy — rooted in lived experience, shared learning, and collective action.

A Borderless Future for Philanthropy

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share reflections from HIP’s leaders who are bringing these ideas to life at international gatherings. We know global change doesn’t start in conference halls — it starts in the community. And HIP is here to make sure those communities are seen, heard, and funded.
