Request for Proposal: Leadership Advisor

Hispanics in Philanthropy is on a mission to leverage philanthropic resources to mobilize and amplify the power of our communities. As part of our Racial Equity & Healing-centered programming, the Líderes Fellowship cultivates a diverse group of mid-career Latines in philanthropy and nonprofits to promote systemic change through racial healing in a safe environment that supports their ability to advance equity in the field while strengthening their professional development and fostering new relationships. More than ever, it is critical for Latines to move into positions of power and influence to change our systems to support the Latine community. This year, HIP is launching our tenth cohort of 25-30 fellows with a focus on the Southwest.
PROGRAM
Established in 2018, the Líderes Fellowship Program offers mid-career philanthropy and nonprofit leaders of color a space to engage in professional development and somatic healing, focusing on dismantling the enduring impacts of colonialism and white supremacy on our communities. For over seven years, 350+ Líderes from the US, Puerto Rico, and México across ten cohorts have received in-person and virtual training through retreats, Communities of Practice (CoP) sessions, guided group coaching, and 1-1 mentorship and professional coaching. Following the fellowship, participants join the Líderes Alumni Network (LAN), an alumni-led community that continues fellows’ equity-centered development with ongoing in-person and virtual convenings dedicated to power-building, capacity building, networking, and informing the social sector.
QUALIFICATION
HIP is seeking a Leadership Advisor who is located in and has strong roots in New Mexico. While individual applications are welcome, we highly recommend applications consisting of more than one person. For team applications, at least one member must possess deep ties to New Mexico. Additionally, extra consideration will be given if non-New Mexico-based team members are located and operate within the Southwest region, including Arizona, Colorado, Navajo Nation, Nevada, Texas, and Utah.
OBJECTIVES
Through the program, Líderes increase their awareness of their role in transforming the public sector and the tools to impact personal, professional and collective change. The program helps Líderes:
● Increase their agency to take action toward achieving personal goals and promoting equity within the sector.
● Learn how to navigate white-dominant spaces to promote change within various systems.
● Gain access to a transnational network of deep, meaningful peer relationships that foster alliance building and professional growth.
● Develop their ability to take care of their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
COMMITMENT
The Leadership Advisors will work closely with HIP’s leadership team, Bayoán Rosselló-Cornier the Director of Leadership Development & Racial Equity and Jazmín Chávez the VP of Movement Building & Infrastructure, to develop the agenda and activities for the opening retreat and closing retreat. This year the opening and closing retreats will take place in New Mexico and the cohort will be comprised of fellows from the Southwest (i.e. Arizona, Colorado, Navajo Nation, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas and Utah). It is the first time that the Líderes Fellowship is inviting Navajo Nation and Native Americans from other tribal regions in Southwest to participate.
HIP’s team will provide background information about the fellows, inform the long term goals of the fellowship and will be responsible for distribution and printing of all necessary materials. The leadership Advisor/s is responsible for identifying activities to build trust amongst the cohort, create the container to have difficult conversations, set the flow of the agenda and ultimately center the overall objectives of the fellowship. Bayoán and Karla will be available to help co-facilitate any conversions while in-person especially as it relates to philanthropy and wellbeing. At HIP we value the need to stay adaptable to meet the needs of the group and require this value to be shared with the leadership Advisor/s .
DELIVERABLES
Being that we are in New Mexico for the retreats, HIP will take this opportunity to teach the cohort more about the political climate of the Southwest and share what philanthropy can do to help based on community voices with the support of fellow alumni and local leaders of the region. The Leadership Advisors are not required to do any additional work for this but you are invited to join the group on any potential site visits/excursions.
Opening Retreat (November: Monday 9th - Thursday 12th)
● Two 1.5 hour virtual planning meetings to prepare for the Opening Retreat
● Slide deck, as needed
● List of supplies and materials
● In person facilitation in Albuquerque, New Mexico ○ November 9th - Travel, Preparation w/ HIP Staff & Líderes Welcome Reception
○ November 10th - Full Day of Facilitation
○ November 11th - Full Day of Facilitation
○ November 12th - Half Day Facilitation & Travel Day
● HIP staff will provide support (e.g. technical, facilitation, etc.) as needed
● One 1 hour debrief meeting post-retreat dates
Closing Retreat (July 2027: Tuesday 20th - Thursday 22nd)
● Two 1.5 hour virtual planning meetings to prepare for the Closing Retreat
● Slide deck, as needed
● List of supplies and materials
● In-person facilitation in Santa Fe, New Mexico ○ July 20th - Travel, Preparation w/ HIP Staff & Líderes Welcome Reception
○ July 21st - Full Day of Facilitation
○ July 22nd - Half Day Facilitation & Travel Day
● HIP staff will provide support (e.g. technical, facilitation, etc.) as needed
● One 1 hour debrief meeting post-retreat dates
GROUP COACHING
Virtual Group Coaching is an integral part of the cohort's continued learning and healing journey. In an effort to support the cohort participants’ ability to demonstrate trust and vulnerability during Group Coaching sessions.
● One 45min virtual planning meetings to prepare
● Three 2hr virtual coaching session ○ Wednesday, December 16th, 2026 from 12pm-2pm (PST)
○ Wednesday, March 10th, 2027 from 12pm-2pm (PST)
○ Wednesday, June 23rd, 2027 from 12pm-2pm (PST)
● One 45 min debrief meeting post retreat dates
HIP provides the Leadership Advisors the initial invitation to also lead the Group Coaching session based on their coaching experience and capacity. Additionally, HIP staff will not participate in the sessions to support cohort participants' ability to fully open up.
BUDGET
HIP has secured $35,000 for the Leadership Advisor/s position. We cover 100% of travel, meals and accommodations for your in-person participation. If also serving as the Group Coach, the Leadership Advisor/s will receive an additional $5,000.
Note: Consulting groups are welcomed to apply. However the budget remains the same.

Once applications have been reviewed, HIP will set up a discovery call with individuals or groups whose proposals will be moving forward to the next round of the selection process. During the call, both parties will have the opportunity to ask clarifying questions and address any concerns. Our goal is to have a consultant identified by September 25th, 2025.
