🌱 Semillas en Trayectoria: Mexico’s First Migrant Integration Index
On September 11, 2025, HIP, Racismo MX, and Casa Centroamérica—supported by the Fondo de Comunidades de Acogida—launched Semillas en Trayectoria, Mexico’s first statistically representative index of migrant integration.
The ĂŤndice de IntegraciĂłn measures inclusion as a two-way process between migrants and host communities. It highlights how migration is not just about individuals adapting to a new country, but also about how societies transform to welcome them.
Key findings include:
- Only 25.4% of Mexicans believe Central American migrants fleeing violence should receive documentation to live and work.
- Just 55.8% of Mexicans would hire a migrant if they owned a business.
- 23.3% of migrants from other countries report facing “significant” discrimination when job searching.
Mexico’s migratory diversity is vast: Venezuelans, Central Americans, and Caribbean people seeking refuge; returning Mexicans and their children; internal migrants. Each community faces unique challenges that require tailored responses.
The Índice is not a final answer but a living tool—inviting collaboration between civil society, academia, the private sector, and people in mobility to foster genuine inclusion.
