Hispanics in Philanthropy Statement on terrorist attacks on two mosques in New Zealand
New York City—Today, Ana Marie Argilagos, President and CEO of Hispanics in Philanthropy, issued the following statement on the shooting of two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand:
“Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP) condemns the horrific and deadly shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, which killed 49 Muslim worshippers. We send our deepest condolences to the families of loved ones killed. We stand strong and united with our Muslim brothers and sisters here in the United States and around the world.
“We are shocked and saddened by this terrorist attack, which was fueled by hate, Islamophobia, and White Nationalism. This is the danger and consequence of hateful rhetoric spurred on by white supremacy here in the US and abroad. The attack reaffirms what we already know: Terrorism does not have a religion. We condemn all forms of violence and attacks on communities simply because of who they are and where they worship.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the Christchurch community. We stand with you and our Muslim sisters and brothers against hate, white supremacy and terrorism.”
