HIP Receives Charitable Grant from Southwest Airlines
Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP) to focus on developing the workforce of tomorrow
Jan. 29, 2019 Oakland, CA – HIP today announced it has been selected as a recipient of a portion of a $1 million Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) Charitable Grant, which focuses on building a stronger workforce of tomorrow.
The Texas-based airline is supporting two-dozen nonprofit organizations across the country, which are strengthening their communities through K-12 STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, building a resilient workforce, and leadership development.
“HIP is thrilled to receive this grant, which will be invaluable in supporting our Next Generation (NGen) Latino Líderes program,” said Ana Marie Argilagos, President and CEO of HIP. “More than ever, it is critical for Latinos to move into positions of power and influence to change our systems, policies, and practices to support the Latino community to live to its fullest potential. HIP’s NGen Líderes Program empowers a new generation of Latinos to step into leadership positions in the public sector.”

The grant funds will be awarded from the Southwest Airlines Foundation, a corporate advised fund of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation®.
