Hispanics in Philanthropy Responds to Guilty Verdict in Trial of Derek Chauvin
Oakland, CA — Today, the jury deliberating the case of Derek Chauvin reached a verdict that found him guilty of murder in the death of George Floyd.
President and CEO of Hispanics in Philanthropy, Ana Marie Argilagos, issued the following statement:
“We know that the verdict today provided accountability, but it did not provide justice. As we welcome this step, our thoughts are with George Floyd’s family as they continue to deal with this trauma. The work ahead means we are committed to dismantling the systemic racism that continues to put our communities at risk. It is an urgent call to transform how we protect our loved ones and each other.”
