Candid and Hispanics in Philanthropy are excited to announce the release of a new dashboard, LATINXFunders. This website reveals an understanding of philanthropy’s role in the Latinx populations across the US and its territories over a five-year period, 2013-2017.
This is an ongoing project to help funders and grant seekers understand how philanthropic resources are being awarded for Latinx communities now and what gaps may exist that can inform evolving strategies. With this tool, the sector can more accurately target resources and support both long and short-term strategies to build prosperity for all Latinx. For example, according to most recent data, 1.3% of all philanthropic dollars granted between 1999 and 2009 in the U.S. were awarded to Latinx communities, while those same communities now represent 18% of the U.S. population. This and other crucial data is provided to users to reflect whether enough is being done or if there is a gap that needs to be filled.
“We are incredibly excited to announce the launch of our LatinxFunders dashboard. We’ve been working in partnership with our partners Candid to create this powerful tool that is easy, accessible and user-friendly. With this dashboard, we can identify and compare years and changes in philanthropic funding in the Latinx community. We can compare geographies, strategies and issue areas to identify gaps and opportunities” said Ana Marie Argilagos, president and CEO of Hispanics in Philanthropy. “We need this dashboard because the numbers and trends in giving to us have remained static in the Latinx communities. We now have a tool to be able to hold our philanthropic partners and institutions accountable and we don’t need to wait five years for an update. We’re grateful for our partners, Candid for creating this tool and look forward to adding more features including Mexico and Latin America.”Key resources this tool provides:
Overall funding trends and yearly funding to Latinx in the U.S. between 2013-2017.
Funders’ interests and priorities are dissected and looked at from different angles to identify patterns and changes.
Latinx funders can share their data to complete the funding picture to better educate decision making.
