Position Summary

This is a position for candidates interested in putting their accounting skills to work to lead the HIPGive crowdfunding program financial activities and accounts receivable. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be well-versed in accrual accounting, have thorough experience with Quickbooks Desktop, be able to work independently and communicate effectively, enjoy the details, and be comfortable with technology and the use of various software tools and platforms. Reporting directly to the Sr. Finance Manager, you’ll work collaboratively with the US and Mexico Finance teams as well as programmatic teams. In this role, you’ll have a meaningful positive impact on the Latine community.  

Duties and Responsibilities


HIP Accounts Receivable - U.S. (35%)

  • Manages accounts receivables for the organization with the use of Quickbooks Desktop;
  • Enter accounts receivables data into Quickbooks US and MX on a weekly basis, adding customers and jobs as needed; 
  • Input revenue and download report details for checks, electronic funds transfers, and various payment platforms like Stripe (US and MX), Paypal (US and MX), Benevity, Network for Good, Global Giving, Act Blue, and HIP’s crowdfunding platform;
  • Preparing invoices for event sponsorships, membership dues, fellowship tuition, or other invoices as requested;
  • Prepare deposits on a monthly basis for checks, or as needed for EFTs;
  • Records chargebacks and refunds as needed;
  • Responsible for general accounting entries, and maintaining schedules;
  • Maintain accounting internal controls and related policies and procedures;
  • Assist with pulling reporting for year-end audit and tax reporting procedures;
  • Work collaboratively with teams across the US and MX;
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports; 
  • Be available for backup in other areas of finance if other team members are out on vacation; and
  • Other projects and duties assigned, as needed.


HIPGive Program Financials (50%)

  • Manages the end to end financial processes for HIPGive, HIP’s crowdfunding platform including:
    • Importing revenue into Quickbooks, on a daily and weekly basis in the US and MX,
    • Reconciling entries to the bank deposits and the HIPGive platform,
    • Create related payables/bills for appropriate projects (i.e. vendors in QuickBooks) and add new vendors as needed,
    • Prepare payable folders and payment requests for processing on a weekly basis,
    • Pull project Profit and Loss reporting for verification of payout amounts,
    • Review grantees files for appropriate documentation,
    • As needed, record matching funds, create journal entries for any refunds and/or chargebacks, and prepare giving circle distributions,
    • Work closely with the HIPGive team on compliance and tracking of payouts.

HIP Finance - Mexico (15%)

  • Support accounts payable within Mexico by serving as the liaison between staff and Finance; and
  • Be available for backup for Finance in Latin America.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4+) plus years’ experience in non-profit accounting, including accrual accounting experience with a track record of assuming responsibilities; 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; 
  • Ability to manage time and perform job duties effectively while working independently; 
  • Ability to track and follow through activities to completion, and support working within teams to ensure a teamwork approach to ensure timely reporting of activities;  
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and written skills; 
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with Quickbooks Desktop Accounting Software, including the ability to process receivables and payables, P&L reporting, and inquiries; 
  • Experience in Google Suites, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) Monday, Slack, Docusign, Virtru, and Zoom; and 
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms and Adobe products is preferred; and
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Compensation + Benefits

The starting monthly salary for this position is $46,897.12 MXN-$51,586.88 MXN. Individual pay by additional factors, including job-related skills and experience. New staff members typically start between the range minimum and midpoint based on qualifications and experience.

Full time employees are eligible for benefits such as paid holiday time, health benefits, vacation and personal days.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires 7 hours per day sitting and working from your computer. This is a remote position in Mexico. Some travel may be required. Employees are required to comply with HIP’s COVID-19 health and safety measures consistent with CDC guidelines, and federal, state, and local regulations.  Additionally, employees traveling on behalf of HIP are required to be vaccinated.
